People in Seychelles who want to learn how to apply cosmetics products are invited to participate in a series of beauty seminar being organised by a local makeup artist starting mid-February.
Anisa Rose, the owner of AnisaRose Makeup, says that it is her wish to not only teach others how to apply makeup but also how to care for their skin before enhancing their natural beauty.
“We live in Seychelles where there is a lot of fruits, vegetables, and plants in general, all of which have beneficial properties. It is not only what you are applying to your face, but it’s also what you are putting in your body that matters,” said Rose.
She added that it is also important to drink plenty of water and apply sunscreen daily for a beautiful complexion.
Giving more details about the seminars, the makeup artist said that each session within the series will be based on a specific theme. Some of the upcoming seminars will be about makeup, skincare, hairstyling and modelling.
“The first class will be about makeup where I will show others how to create a natural look, how to do their eyebrows as well as touch upon creative makeup,” said Rose.

To learn more about the seminars, one can reach out to the makeup artist via her social media platforms — Facebook and Instagram. Each seminar is expected to cost $73 (SCR1000). Follow-ups after the classes will be in the form of a package where the participants can meet Rose on a one-on-one basis and get access to video tutorials.
Before moving back to Seychelles, Rose lived in England where she was modelling professionally and owned a photography studio. Sourcing makeup artists were something she did on a regular basis and Rose would constantly watch them at work as well as ask for their advice on how to apply makeup.
Rose acquired her skill by observing hired makeup artists and practising.
Talking about incorporating modelling in the seminar, Rose said that her aim is to link the two together on the local scene.

“People dream to feel and look good and I would like everyone to have the knowledge to make themselves look good without other people judging them,” said Rose.
She added that it was only when she moved back to Seychelles that she realised that makeup in Europe is a huge trend.
“In Europe, it is all about makeup whether someone is going to a party or a special event, they look for a makeup artist. However, in Seychelles, it was all about hair and this is when I thought about what I could bring to Seychelles’ beauty industry, that there currently is a lack of,” said Rose.
Looking ahead, Rose aspires to have her own branded eyeliner line.
